Pic First, Second, and Last: Here we were serving in Loretto (thanks Mom) underneath three of the four walls of Jesus's home, which were taken by the Crusaders as they retreated from the Muslims into safety.
Center pics: We had served at various places I cannot remember (please help family!) But the pic on the right was I think one of the Eucharistic Miracle churches (yesssss)

Why is there only one pic of Des?! j/k ;-D Great pics Dame!
How come you guys didn't bring your medals?
We felt no need to
Well I am ashamed in you (except Lance of course)!
Kat, how could you say pictures of Des, its not even of us (not sure if thats true), but about serving at such neat churches!
JP, why would we wear St. Stephen's medals when we are nowhere near that place when no one even knows what it means? Shame on you!
Lance... we felt no need to?! Is that what you call it?
;)
Heck! I would serve in every corner of the world with my medal just to show that I belong to the St. Stephen's Altar Guild. If the Guild's not that important to me then I wouldn't need a reason to were it even at St Stephen's; it's a church, same as any. Do you think everyone at church knows what the symbols on our medals mean? If they don't I guess that means that you don't have to wear yours.
Well I for one wouldnt think that those Canadians would know why we have them, let alone anyone else (Except maybe Mrs. Presley and Amber). While I think Jason (the other server) would feel uncomfortable if we were all wearing something that signifies what we do and he doesnt(I think he felt uncomfortable not being able to serve A1 or A2 because they were occupied by the learners). And I wouldnt want to go around every corner of the world serving with something that means more of a pride rather than what it means (to show I am a member of Altar Guild, which has nothing to do with Italy, or Chico, or anything BUT St. Stephens, where it belongs). Now if Fr. Rizzo gave all us servers something as a medal and say "wear it for Canterbury Tours (you sinners)", I would, but I'm not going to go around other places saying "well this is how we do it". Its a church same as any. And thats why we do what we do. :D
Damien (ahh the good old days :D )
Do you think priests are uncomfortable around Benedictines, Franciscans, or other religious because their order requires something "different" to do? What about when Fr. Kristy (sp) wants to say mass at St. Stephen's? Would you say that because he's not from the FSSP he can't wear his habit to our church? Of course you weren't required by the Guild to wear your medals in Italy. Jason sounds like a nice guy. How can you say that our medals signify something that we do and he doesn't? You said that it means you are a part of the Altar Guild. He serves at the altar, whether he's A1 or not, same as us, unless you go technical. You're right. St. Stephen's Altar Guild has nothing to do with Italy and Chico. Though, I wouldn't remove my medal to serve in Chico unless they insist on it being so. I'm proud to be a member of the Guild (not saying you aren't). My medal isn't an exclusive pass or a symbol of what I am and what everyone else is. And because churches are the same as any why wouldn't I wear my medal?
Priests are required to wear what they wear. We on the other hand are meant to serve God and aid the priest in assisting Christ with the Sacrifice of the Mass, I usually dont even think about what I wear representing a low-like server, as long as its the simple cassock and surplus. I'm proud to be a member of the Guild as well, I just dont care about professing it, just as long as I do what is right in aiding with the Sacrifice, I'm happy.
OK! My goodness Damester, if you wanted your point taken that badly then all you had to do was say it. I agree in what you said about doing what is right in aiding with the sacrifice of the Mass making you happy. You don't need to tell me what serving at the altar is all about just to prove your point! Plus I already know that priests are required to wear what they wear and we are not required to wear our medals in Italy. I guess that's why I said, "Of course you weren't required by the Guild to wear your medals in Italy." So don't respond to my comment with 3 sentences telling me about what the meaning of serving in what we wear just to prove that you don't care to profess being a member of the Guild. You disappoint me! And if all this time you were being sarcastic I won't mind. I kinda half expected it. And if you took my comments too seriously then for a sarcastic person you need to figure out when I state comments sarcastically as well. j/k ;-D
The other point, just to be a pain in the neck, is that the priest does not assist Christ in the Sacrifice of the Mass. Rather, the priest takes on the role of Christ and offers himself as Christ with us assisting the priest.
Sarcastically,
Jeeps.
I knew the priest had something to do with assisting in the Sacrifice, but I guess thats what we (the servers) do. I always get that stuff mixed up (everyday thing).
And no.. JP you should know me by now, I find joy (ahh the good old days) in arguing points and facts and all that (only when I'm not getting my butt kicked around). I will admit you had me there, but I didnt mind (heck I didnt even try to interpret it), I love these kind of things ( I guess I disappointed you... so I'll hang my head in shame and walk away in exile).
Damien (ahh yes the good old days)
