How Does It Work?

Well guys it's that time. I'd have to say that I've done nothing interesting for questions but I will ask one after my talk on Sweetwater.

Oh oh it's magic! You know! Well, Sweetwater was a blast, the cabin was no cabin at all, but everything there was great. The end. What we did will not be told just for my fun's sake. HAHAHA.

Well since I have not read anything remotely interesting, I will post on the last interesting thing I had read. No not static electricity. That's too boring, but YESSSSS Lasers baby. Ok I don't really know how they work, but what I got from the book was that lasers are consisted of a gem or ruby of some sort and it's inside all these mirrors. Someway I can't remember the ruby is activated and the ruby takes up (with the help of the mirrors, if they are mirriors) all the matter inside. It shoots off an extremely powerful light source that is able to blow things up cuz it takes the matter away from it or something. Is someone able to fill me in on how come this isnt used by the military wholeheartedly? Is it because it's inhumane? It is wasteful of matter and can only be used once? Or is it because of both? Anyways if you don't believe what a laser does. I have the book, which says that some lasers are used to destroy incoming missles and are only used once because of all the matter inside the ruby is destroyed. And also I have a sweet pic of what a laser can do to this tall silo (not missle silo, mind you). But leave your thoughts on my confusing, late night written topic. Peace on mates!

Nice review on lasers. It was.......interesting. I think that the use of lasers is good for industrial uses like cutting steel and medical uses like eye surgery, but those don't cause such a devastating effects like destroying matter. But could you imagine one day some country goes to war and decides to ask for militery help from a country as advanced as America. Now trying to end the war a.s.a.p. the US decides to use lasers along with all our of our other technology, probably with the exception of nuclear weapons. You'd probably think that a lot of countries would start saying things about the US using weapons that destroy matter like human tissue. And the rest.....well, that's up to you to think up.

Wait let me look it up about the gem thing, I know about the mirrors but it was late...aha, "The first laser was constructed by the American scientist Theodore H. Maiman in 1960. It was a simple device, consisting of a 6 ince rod of pure RUBY, mirrored on both ends, surrounded by a powerful flash lamp; the whole device was encased in a metal bos. Whemn the flash lamp was ignited, it caused streams of photons to strike the ryby crystal. as chromium atoms within the ruby were struck by photons, their electrons were ""bumped"" up to higher energy levels; this process continued until most of the chromium atoms in the crystal were in an excited state (This is Damien, excited state is when two photons come out of an electron at the same time, giving twice the power. Look up STIMULATED EMISSION). Eventually a few atoms began reverting back to their normal state, emitting photons of a certain frequency in the process. As thousands of these photons began bouncing back and forth between the mirrored ends of the ruby crystal, they cause other atoms to emit more photons by stimulated emission, adding to the wave of photons that were sweeping back and forth through the crystal ""in step"". Eventually, the avalanche of photons became so great that it passed right through the mirror on the front of the crystal, emerging as an intense crimson beam of light- a laser beam"

Out of Starwars? Well of course, Starwars USED lasers! How would a high energy beam of light come if there were ONLY mirriors?

(Less sarcastic as well) Sorry Mark for putting that up, you got me into the grove... I hope people read this...

What I think is pretty dumb is that people dont want the Star Wars Project to be put into use because that would make "war unfair." That's pretty crazy if you ask me.

This is my kind of topic stuff that I am interested in. I have been doing research on that stuff for a while. What Mark told you was probably not as much as he could have told you……….Ok, back in 1973 the air force shot down drones with a laser, and in 1975 a tank shot down helicopter drones. Some lasers cannot be seen with the naked eye and so cane be used with out anyone knowing. Oh… in 1982 $2,000,000,000 was spent on research and testing so put some of this together and you get some thing big by 2005.

Oh I and one more thing they have developed a single shoting laser as in a gun that you can carry like in Star Wars.

Wow, that'd be pretty darn scary. I mean if they have those kind of things just going around soon? I have a pic of a before/after, those things can cause chaos...

To add to this, I know of another way the government has been using lasers...
Laser tag, anyone?
